GREENE & CO. HOST CROUCH END FUN DAY AND CHARITY CRICKET MATCH TO RAISE MONEY FOR PROJECT BUTTERFLY, THIS SUNDAY 13TH JULY

9th July 2008

Greene & Co. are hosting a Crouch End Fun Day and Twenty20 Charity Cricket Match this Sunday, 13th July at Hornsey Cricket Club to raise money for Project Butterfly, the refurbishment of the Marie Curie Hospice in Hampstead.

Fun will commence from 12pm at the Hornsey Cricket Club off Tivoli Road, Crouch End with activities including “Soggy Sponge the Estate Agent”, a bouncy castle for adults, local trader stalls, bric-a-brac, arts and crafts, story telling, face painting, loads of games and competitions for the young (and young at heart) and live performances by local artists and bands.

The Twenty20 cricket match will commence at 2pm with the Greene & Co. Allstars playing against the Hornsey Cricket Club. Local “Crouchenders” and a few celebrity faces will be dropping in throughout the afternoon to bowl an over or two.

There will be plenty of fundraising activities taking place during the afternoon with Greene & Co. pledging to match all donations made on the day. Fat Leonard, a blues and rock band will be performing from 6pm with a BBQ and drinks available throughout the day.

“It’s going to be a great day,” said organiser of the event, Jacqui Daley, Marketing Manager of Greene & Co. “A grown-up fun fair and a really nice way to meet new people in the community. There will be lots of activities for the kids as well so we want to see as many people there as possible. We really need to raise as much money for the hospice as possible – especially if Greene & Co. are going to match all donations made!”

Greene & Co. aim to raise £30,000 for Project Butterfly before December and so far have raised over £5,000 by staff members donating a day’s salary to the charity.

“We chose Project Butterfly as the major charity for Greene & Co. to support in 2008 for two reasons. Firstly, it has such a local focus and impact on the North London community and secondly, because of the relevance of the hospice to our employees. Every Greene & Co. agency has at least one member of staff who has been affected by cancer, either personally or through a close family member. We wanted to show the staff our support,” said David Pollock, Managing Director of Greene & Co.

Project Butterfly is Marie Curie Cancer Care's appeal to transform the aging building in Hampstead to allow their patients and their families the dignity, privacy, comfort and independence they so deserve at this very difficult time of their lives.

The Marie Curie hospice provides holistic care for all patients with a terminal illness comprising of physical, emotional, social and spiritual support completely free of charge.

Project Butterfly need to raise £3.4 million by November 2008, of which £2 million has been raised so far.
