Greene & Co. raise £17k for Marie Curie hospice in Hampstead

We are very proud to annouce that we at Greene & Co. estate agents have raised nearly £17,000 for the refurbishment of the Marie Curie Hospice in Hampstead. As our chosen charity of the year for 2008, money was raised for Project Butterfly from a variety of events with £7,000 contributed with the help of the local community and a generous donation and matching scheme which saw Greene & Co. donating a further £10,000 for the charity.

The major fundraising event was a fun day hosted in Crouch End in the summer, with over 400 members of the local community attending. A Twenty20 cricket match, “Soggy Sponge the Estate Agent”, games for the kids and a BBQ made the day with over £3,000 was raised. Greene & Co. staff also got behind the cause, many of them donating a day’s salary – contributing to £3,400 of the total amount raised. You might have even seen an estate agent or two out on the street shaking the tin for the cause!

We’ve been to the hospice, we’ve seen the difference the refurbishment has made and we’re really pleased that we could help. I must say, that we are very impressed with the generosity of our team donating a days’ salary and we challenge other local businesses out there to do the same. As one of the most affected industries in the current economic climate I’d like to think that if we can do it, so can others!” said managing director of Greene & Co. David Pollock.
Project Butterfly is Marie Curie Cancer Care's appeal to transform the aging building in Hampstead to allow their patients and their families the dignity, privacy, comfort and independence they so deserve at this very difficult time of their lives. The Marie Curie hospice provides holistic care for all patients with a terminal illness comprising of physical, emotional, social and spiritual support completely free of charge.
Project Butterfly is only £80,000 off the much needed £3,750,000.
Winning the award within the UK property industry for Corporate Social Responsibility, in December 2008, Greene & Co. will be supporting Fight for Life in 2009.
