Hillfield Court was built in 1932 by Colonel Griggs, it was considered a very prestigious block set within magnificent, spacious gardens. The residents have always been very proud of their block with its high level of community spirit. The Hillfield Court Residents Group meet monthly to discuss the running of the block.
History
In 1841 Basil Woodd, a Bond Street brandy merchant bought the lease to what was, at the time, a 19 acre estate set within the boundaries of Belsize Avenue, Belsize Park Gardens and Belsize Grove. Acquiring the freehold to the Hillfield estate in 1857 Woodd built two homes on the property, one called Woodlands for his son and the other, Hillfield House. Whilst Woodlands was demolished to make way for new roads (Glenmore and Howitt) Hillfield House remained until the end of the First World War.
