A VERY USEFUL BAG. GO GREENE!

Each of us in Britain uses 216 plastic bags a year. That's a staggering total of 13 billion - and it's time for a revolution in the way we shop.

Every time we make a purchase on the high street we’re handed a free plastic bag… too often just disposing of them and coming back for more.

Britain is not only consuming 20 times more plastic than half a century ago, but storing up real problems.

Enter to the stage the Go Greene: Very Useful Bag campaign.

Over the spring/summer of 2008 Greene & Co will be giving away 30,000 useful (and reusable) bags. See our teams hitting the streets of West Hampstead, Belsize Park, Maida Vale and Crouch End with our free giveaways.

For further information on how to get your very own (and FREE) Go Greene bag visit the Very Useful Bag link on the right of the page.

GREENE & CO: WORKING WITH LOCAL COUNCILS TO TARGET NEW RESIDENTS TO THE AREA WITH GREEN MESSAGES

Greene & Co are currently working with Camden, Tower Hamlets and Islington Councils to determine ways to promote a green friendly message to new residents moving into the area. This includes giving out information on waste collection and recycling within all the boroughs, providing new residents to the area with recycled bags, energy efficient light bulbs* and pencils recycled from plastic cups.

GREENE & CO ARE ADOPTING NEW BUSINESS METHODS TO ENSURE WE ARE OPERATING AS MUCH AS A PAPERLESS OFFICE AS POSSIBLE.

• Greene & Co ask for all documents relating to the sale / letting of a property to be scanned and emailed rather than faxed or posted (excluding legally binding contracts).
• All paperwork from our end scanned and emailed to clients.
• Invoices and all archives are gradually being scanned and filed online.

GREENE & CO: WORKING WITH LOCAL SCHOOLS TO MAKE LONDON A GREENER PLACE

In March of 2008 Greene & Co began working with The Rosary RC Primary School, Haverstock Hill, NW3 on their “pennies for plastic” campaign. Greene & Co paid for 500 cotton bags to be printed and delivered for the students to use with their parents when grocery shopping. Budgens on Haverstock Hill are doing their bit too, launching a Pennies for Plastic Appeal in a bid to change customers' shopping habits and cut the use of plastic bags. For every bag a customer reuses, the shop donates one penny towards the Rosary School.

GREENE & CO WORK WITH FSC ACCREDITED PRINTERS

From May 2008, Greene & Co will be printing all stationery on materials approved by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). THE FSC is an international, non-governmental organisation dedicated to promoting responsible management of the world’s forests. Read more about why we’re using FSC accredited printers on the right of this page.

GREENE & CO ENCOURAGE ALL STAFF TO RECYCLE THEIR OLD MOBILE PHONES

As everyone knows, estate agents love their mobile phones. In fact it’s highly likely that if you want to upgrade to a new phone, your estate agent will know more about the “latest and greatest” options on the market – more so than the phone salesman!

Greene & Co actively encourage our staff to recycle their old phones. It’s a well known fact that when thrown into landfill, phones and batteries contain nasty toxic stuff. It’s also well known that our planet doesn't like nasty toxic stuff. And nor do we.

If you have a phone you wish to recycle visit www.mazumamobile.com – they’ll even pay you for the phone!

Greene & Co donate the money returned on the phones to our local charity of choice Project Butterfly.

GREENE & CO AGENTS TO TAKE PART IN EUROPEAN CAR FREE DAY!

In 2008 European Car Free Day will take place on September 22nd. It is almost impossible for a negotiator to do their job without the use of a car and we acknowledge the impact this has on our local area. We at Greene & Co hope our involvement in this day will encourage many others in the local community to participate.

If you would like more information about recycling go may also wish to visit www.recycle-more.co.uk or for initiatives in your council borough please visit your local council website.
