BLACKFRIARS, EC4

Located south west of central London, Blackfriars is rich in history and forms part of the capital’s South Bank, which can only mean plenty of riverside cafes, bars, restaurants and, of course, residential properties. St Paul’s, named after the famed Church of England cathedral in the area, which is also one of London’s greatest monuments, dates back to the late 17th century. The area, which measures just over one square mile, also forms a notable part of the City or the Square Mile.

Aside from local attractions, the City, which only has a population of about 8,000 people, is the base for well over 300,000 workers, made up mainly of those working in the financial services sector.

A wide selection of bars and restaurants ranging from very old traditional pubs to modern eateries can be found in the area, most notably on Watling Street and Bow Lane.

St Paul’s property market isdominated by purpose-built blocks as well as office and warehouse conversions, but there are also a number of recently and newly built swanky apartments, including units set in serviced blocks, well suited to the City-types that often look to buy or rent property in St Paul’s.

The area is served by St Paul’s Tube station (Central Line, Zone 1), Mansion House (Circle and District Lines, Zone 1 and City Thameslink – Capital Connect, Zone 1). There are plenty of bus services as well as river buses also available at nearby Blackfriars Millennium Pier.

TEMPLE, WC2

Situated along the Victoria Embankment in the vicinity of Temple Church, Temple is London’s primary legal district. Although the vast majority of the area forms part of the City of London, a small western part is located in the City of Westminster, which offers some of the cheapest council tax rates in London.

Much like its neighbouring areas, the vast bulk of people renting or buying property in Temple are generally City workers attracted to the district’s central location and proximity to the river.
